An epidemic is sweeping Chicago, and its effect has been devastating. The city known for its beautiful skyline and four seasons has earned some unwanted notoriety: gang violence. According to reports, halfway through 2012, the number of people killed in Chicago surpassed the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan. At that time, 144 Americans had been killed in Afghanistan, while 228 people died in our own backyard. Neighborhoods throughout the city are under attack and residents are calling for help. Chicago is pleading for peace. We invite you to be a part of the dialogue. WYCC PBS Chicago is hosting a town hall meeting where you’ll have an opportunity to listen and contribute to the conversation. Together with our community and civic leaders, we will address concerns and seek solutions for dealing effectively with the violence in our city.
