Greater Englewood is more than a neighborhood—it’s a community rich with history and boundless potential. For those of us who call it home, Englewood has shaped who we are—creative, determined, and deeply connected to one another. Our streets are lined with stories of perseverance, our businesses are fueled by innovation, and our residents embody a spirit of strength that continues to drive our neighborhood forward.

Located just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago, Englewood is easily accessible by the CTA Red Line (63rd Street), Green Line (Halsted and Ashland), and the Dan Ryan Expressway. This central location makes it easy to get to and from the neighborhood. Englewood and West Englewood stretch from Garfield Boulevard (55th Street) to 75th Street, and from Racine Avenue to Western Avenue. These are our blocks, our businesses, and our community—rooted in history and built by the people who live here.

The neighborhood is served by five wards, each represented by an alderperson who advocates for community needs and priorities.

As one of Chicago’s 77 community areas, Englewood is a neighborhood with a deep history and a bright future. It is a predominantly Black community, with 90% of residents identifying as African-American. While 26% of Englewood’s population are homeowners, thousands of vacant properties remain—nearly 4,000 out of 14,000 housing units sit empty.

These challenges don’t define us; they drive us. R.A.G.E. is committed to addressing these issues head-on, advocating for policies and programs that support homeownership, reclaim vacant spaces, and ensure that longtime residents have a stake in Englewood’s revitalization. Through community-led action, we are working to build a stronger, more self-determined Englewood—one where opportunity isn’t just possible, it’s inevitable.
