As part of the Englewood Public Safety Task Force (PSTF) summer, Safe and Peaceful Chicago initiative, the outdoor employment fair, Jobs on the Block returns for 2018! On Thursday, August 30th, several employers and community resources will come to 66th & Hermitage for the outdoor hiring event from 10am – 2pm.
All particpating employers will have current open positions and will hire individuals with criminal backgrounds. Many resources prepared to help individuals remove any barriers to employment were also invited to joiin us, such as First Defense Legal Aid, Dovetail Project, The Chicago Torture Justice Center, and Chicago Community Bond Fund. Serious job seekers should plan to attend, dress professionally, and bring a resume, however, it is not required because volunteers will be ready to help you fine tune your resume on the spot or at one of our TWO FREE resume & career development workshops in collaboration with Communitiess Partnering 4 Peace and Chicago Urban League. The first workshop will be held tomorrow, Thursday, August 23rd, 10-12pm at Teamwork Englewood and the second workshop is Wednesday, August 29th, 2-4pm at West Englewood Library.

Rock The Beat is designed to deter violent crimes by providing resources and positive activities to blocks in high crime Beats. The group is currently combating the violence in Beat 723 and working to expand to other high crime areas. The goal of the Englewood QLP Public Safety Task Force is to create a community where neighbors respect, trust, and forgive each other in building shared accountability for a peaceful and safe environment.
