The Englewood Village Meeting hosting by R.A.G.E. at Hope Manor II on July 18th was a high-energy meeting providing relevant information, resources and community updates to over 60 meeting attendees.
Guest speakers for the meeting included Dori Collins from the Greater Englewood Community Action Council (CAC), Deon Lucas Partner of BEEHYYVE and E.G. Woode (formerly known as-Englewood Thrive Zone Collective), and Marlon Chamberlain from the Community Renewal Society.

Deon Lucas, partner in BEEHYVE and E.G. Woode business owner, discussed new businesses coming to the 63rd street corridor as a result of the city of Chicago’s Retail Thrive Zone grant program. Learn more about the businesses below:
Marlon Chamberlain from Community Renewal Society’s FORCE initiative discussed how to build power in our community by taking issues from the block to Springfield. Marlon is looking to host a civic engagement training, those interested can complete this google form to sign up–> Greater Englewood Civic Engagement Training. You can view his presentation below:

June & July Fundraising Events
- R.A.G.E participation in the Strides for Peace 2017 Race Against Gun Violence on June 1st in Grant Park helped raise over $400 for the association.
- Our African Pop Up Shop on June 21st at Hamilton Park raised over $1,000 to support R.A.G.E programs and efforts to increase peace and unity in the Greater Englewood Community.
- Englewood invaded Lincoln Square on July 1st! R.A.GE hosted an African Pop-up Shop in collaboration with the Englewood Art Collect art exhibit. We raised a couple hundred dollars and introduced many of our new Northside friends to the R.A.G.E. movement.
Englewood QLP Public Safety Task Force Update
The Englewood QLP Public Safety Task Force successfully brought peace to 66th & Union on July 6th and July 20th. Rock The Beat is designed to deter violent crimes by providing resources, free food, music and fun activities to blocks in high crime Beats. The group is currently focused on combating the violence in Beat 723 with the bi-weekly events. The next Rock The Beat is scheduled for Thursday, August 3rd from 4pm to 7pm! All positive people and resources are welcome to come out and support this safety initiative. More details about the event will be released soon.

The Englewood Park Takeover Continues!! 4 parks down, 3 more to go!! Our next stop is Ogden Park on August 5th!! If you are interested in volunteering, performing or being a resource provider, please email us today at joinrage@gmail.com! Upcoming So Fresh Saturday dates are the following:
- August 5 – Ogden Park – 6500 S. Racine Ave.
- August 26 – Hamilton Park – 513 W. 72nd St. (back-to-school event)
- September 23 – Sherwood Park – 5701 S. Shields Ave.
We are also accepting school supplies (book bags, crayons, pencil boxes, pencils, paper, folders, notebooks, etc.) and monetary donations for our So Fresh Saturday at Hamilton Park (back-to-school event) on August 26th. We can pick up the supplies from a location of your choice or you can drop them off at the R.A.G.E office located at 6620 S. Union Ave any time before Friday, August 25th. Let’s send the kids back to school the right way!
